Fran Chuba

My art career began with a lie.  As a young, left-handed, Italian-American, I loved to draw.  Art meant everything to me.  The only thing I ever wanted to do was become an artist.

The lie?  When I was a child my mother told me that since I was Italian, and since she was born in Italy, and since her family name was Leonardo, that I was a direct descendant of another great Italian left-handed Leonardo artist ...Leonardo da Vinci ~ ~ ~ assolutamente

(These sorts of "white lies" go a long way giving kids confidence in their dreams!)

I may not be related to Leonardo da Vinci but I do love creating art, and I hope you will enjoy viewing these portraits.  You won't find a Mona Lisa ~ but, perhaps, one of her "direct descendants!"

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

"I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source."

                  Doris Day

"Dogs are the closest we come to knowing the divine love of God on this side of eternity.  They love me all the time, no matter what.  Their love, companionship and loyalty are why I have such deep faith in God.  They are God's love in cute, chubby bodies.  Dogs are umbilical.  Dogs are first responders.  Dogs never betray you or hurt your feelings."
